Playa del Carmen is the center of the Riviera Maya corridor, which runs from south of Cancun to Tulum. Playa is a stop for several cruise ships which dock at the nearby Calica quarry docks, about six miles south of the city. Tourist activity in Playa del Carmen centers on Quinta Avenida, or Fifth Avenue, a pedestrian walkway which is lined with boutique hotels, shops, bars, and restaurants. |

A visit to Tulum is a must see activity for any Cancun visitor. The Tulum area is the site of a magnificent ancient Mayan City. Many of the original structures, sculptures, and artwork can still be seen today in this wonderfully preserved representation of Mexico's rich cultural history. Noteworthy attractions include Limestone temples, the Castillo (the ruins' largest structure), and the ancient port of Tulum Cove. |
