Chichen Itza

If you only make it to one of the Yucatan's many archeological sites, Chichen Itza is on the top of the must see list. Featuring the legendary Temple of Kukulkan, with stairways on all four sides is a core attraction to this site. The site contains many other features in varying stages of preservation; temples, palaces, stages, ball courts, markets, and baths.

Cozumel

Famous all over the world for its coral reefs, there are plenty of water sports such as diving, deep sea fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, and more. There are over 100 restaurants on the island and many hotels. Cozumel's undeveloped territory is covered by jungle and swampy lagoons.

Isla Mujeres

Once a sacred area dedicated to the worship of the Mayan moon goddess, this area is now popular for tourism. Accessed by ferryboat, visitors often come for the fresh seafood and the Maya cuisine. Activities include boat tours, snorkeling, scuba diving, and interactions with the local population of sea turtles.

Playa Chemuyil

This secluded spot is perfect for those who wish to get away from the hustle and bustle of tourist activities. Beautiful white sand beach, crystal clear waters and hiking trails along the coast that offers magnificent views. The snorkeling conditions are excellent here due to the protection of an offshore reef. Expect to pay a small charge when visiting this special area but it is well worth every penny.

Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen is the center of the Riviera Maya corridor, which runs from south of Cancun to Tulum. Playa is a stop for several cruise ships which dock at the nearby Calica quarry docks, about six miles south of the city. Tourist activity in Playa del Carmen centers on Quinta Avenida, or Fifth Avenue, a pedestrian walkway which is lined with boutique hotels, shops, bars, and restaurants.

Puerto Morelos

Here, the new age tourist can experience Reiki and Energy Balancing Massages, Meditation, Yoga, and special workshops. You will hear English, Dutch, French, German, Swiss, Italian, Mayan, and of course Spanish spoken at one time or another. Puerto Morelos has a wide variety of guest houses, bed and breakfast facilities, condominiums, and hotels.

Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve

A natural reserve that encompasses over a million acres including wetlands, tropical forests, and marine systems. This area offers amazing and informative tours while focusing on low impact tourism.

Tulum Ruins

A visit to Tulum is a must see activity for any Cancun visitor. The Tulum area is the site of a magnificent ancient Mayan City. Many of the original structures, sculptures, and artwork can still be seen today in this wonderfully preserved representation of Mexico's rich cultural history. Noteworthy attractions include Limestone temples, the Castillo (the ruins' largest structure), and the ancient port of Tulum Cove.

Xcaret

This Mayan civilization archaeological site has been protected as an ecological park to maintain the original ruins and structures as long as possible. Xcaret park is a popular choice for tourists seeking the various attractions available in and around the area, as well as, locals who use this area for festivals and events.

Xel Ha

This once sacred place is where many ancient Mayans would go to worship gods of the Earth and Nature. Snorkeling is a main activity due to the calm, warm waters, and the abundant sea life. After snorkeling and swimming, walk along the paths through the mangrove forests or take a trip along the underground river.
